Who We Are
Bugsworth Uncovered is a non-commercial hobby website dedicated to the history of Bugsworth.
-
Website: https://bugsworth.org

Contact: mail@bugsworth.org
1. Interactive Map & Location Data
The site includes an interactive map with optional browser-based location features.
-
How it works: Your location is only accessed if you actively click the “Locate Me” button and grant your browser permission.
-
Usage: This is used strictly to show your “blue dot” on the map while the tab is open.
-
No Tracking: Your live location is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties. Once you close the browser tab, the connection ends.
2. Analytics (Burst Statistics)
We use Burst Statistics to monitor site usage and improve our historical content.
-
Privacy-First: This tool is privacy-friendly and anonymises your data. It does not use tracking cookies or share data with third parties.
-
No Advertising: We do not use analytics for advertising or marketing.
-
Why we collect it: We track which markers are popular so we can focus on providing the best historical info for the visitors. This allows us to keep the map free and open to everyone without requiring a login.
3. Data We Collect
-
Optional Account Info: If you choose to register, we store your username and email to manage your profile.
-
Comments: We collect data shown in the comment form and your IP address to help with spam detection.
-
Media: If you upload images, ensure you have removed EXIF GPS metadata is you dont want to share this.
- User-Submitted Markers: If you use the “Add Location” feature to suggest a point of interest, we store the coordinates, description, and any images you provide on our secure server. These are held in a “pending” state for moderator approval and are not shared with third parties.
-
Technical Logs: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type) are kept briefly for security and to prevent abuse.
4. Cookies
-
Functional: Used for login sessions and user preferences (e.g., “Remember Me”).
-
Analytics: Burst Statistics uses limited, anonymised cookies to count unique visitors without identifying individuals.
5. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase any personal data we hold. Since we value your privacy, we keep data collection to an absolute minimum.
-
For data requests or deletion, contact: mail@bugsworth.org.
6. Third Parties
We do not sell or trade your data. Data is only handled by our hosting provider (for server operation) and spam-prevention services. External links (like YouTube videos) are subject to their own privacy policies.
A Note To Young Historians
While we love seeing all ages take an interest in the Bugsworth’s history, the interactive map is intended as a public resource for everyone to explore. However, account registration and data submission are designed for users aged 16 and over. We do not intentionally collect personal information from children; if we discover an account has been created by someone under 16, we will delete the profile to protect their privacy. We encourage younger explorers to enjoy the map under the guidance of a parent or guardian.
Summary for the user: We want you to enjoy the history of the Basin privately. We don’t track you, we don’t serve ads, and we only use basic stats to make the site better for everyone.
