Some very surprising news sent in. Bugsworth Volunteer Task-force have been let go. Hopefully only temporarily. You can see their facebook post below.
** Update**
CRT have said
“We understand this news is disappointing and appreciate how much people care about Bugsworth Basin and the contribution volunteers have made.
This decision wasn’t taken lightly, and we remain committed to the site. We’re exploring future opportunities, including alternative volunteering and taskforce-style sessions, and will share updates when we can.
Thank you for your support and understanding.”
And some good news also, that contractors will now trim the vegetation ❤
I think CRT are playing a long game and the containers will be removed. Heart strings pulled on the lack of volunteering. Then a campaign made on funding and a nice new work building will be built like that nice shiny one on the Macclesfield water point!
I think you might be right on a long game. But they could do with telling the public.
So much human energy went into bringing bringing the basin back to life and many of those wonderful hard workers have now passed on.
They fought through mud, rain and I’m sure saw their fair share of black mould without needing to shout about everything and shutting work down.
The Facebook age has a lot to answer for.
If you put your sensible hat on this whole stopping volunteering (on the stated matters) seems ridiculous.
I think there is more to the situation untold.
