Summer is Starting to Swing!

How many boats can you count?!

A big change from back in the old days!

Summer is well underway at Bugsworth Basin, and what a fantastic sight to see. Last weekend there were a whopping 12 boats moored up in the upper basin, with crews tying up double and (almost) triple abreast.

It’s brilliant to see the basin in full use and to feel that classic canal-side community atmosphere in the air.

This kind of gathering is exactly what the volunteers who spent years restoring the basin must have envisioned—a vibrant, working waterway rather than a quiet degrading port.

If you’re cruising the Peak Forest Canal over the coming weeks, make sure to navigate your way down to the basin, join the throng, and help keep this historic site as active and enjoyable as the restoration team intended.

A Busy Basin!

Introducing the Bugsworth Visitor Book

Seeing the upper basin so beautifully busy this weekend has sparked a new idea for the site. We want to capture the stories, memories, and photos that make Bugsworth Basin such a special destination, so we plan to launch a digital Bugsworth Visitor Book.

This feature will be launching soon once we develop the tech to get it up and running on the website. Once live, it will be a dedicated space where regular boaters, first-time cruisers, and local walkers can share their recent adventures and basin photos, creating a great archive for future visitors to explore. Watch this space for updates!
